Warehouse and Logistics Manager

Mozambique – On site

Key Purpose and Responsibilities:

  • To manage the overall logistics and warehousing for the Complex/ site, both inbound and outbound, ensuring that the right stock is delivered to the correct site at the correct time and the best cost.

  • Work in conjunction with the Operations Manager and COO to co-create the short- and medium-term logistics strategy for the Complex.

  • Work closely with the rest of the Operation and the Supply Chain to ensure the delivery of an integrated supply chain benefit and strategic target achievement.

  • Compile and implement the distribution/logistics strategy for the Complex, determining the most effective transportation modes, routes and carriers based on cost and time.

  • Analyse the financial impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes,product volumes or mixes, or carriers.

  • Mitigate risks to people and physical assets.

  • Ensure full legal compliance with all relevant legislation.

  • Ensure the team accurately and regularly captures operating data onto the information system to enable access to reliable data and reporting for trend analysis and decision making.

  • Drive sustainable maintenance practices throughout the depots.

  • Compile the annual distribution/logistics budget for the Complex.

  • Manage costs to ensure lowest cost storage and distribution and the optimal utilisation of assets

  • Lead the logistics and depot teams towards meeting strategic objectives and targets through regular communication and utilisation of the full organisational talent management tool set.

Required Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • SAP and other ERP systems.

  • Warehousing principles and practices.

  • Company sales strategy and site product priorities.

  • Supply chain principles and methodologies.

  • Company economics (supply and demand).

  • Applicable legislation for warehouse and transport management (import and export requirements, risk, health, safety and environmental).

  • Minimum of a degree or diploma in logistics management.

  • Valid drivers’ licence.

  • A minimum of 10 years in a warehouse and distribution environment or which 4 should be in a managerial role.
