Key Purpose and Responsibilities:

  • To provide the Operation with commercial support and insight for operational decision-making regarding profitability and the commercial structuring of contracts.

  • To identify and cost improvements and cost reduction opportunities for IFS operations with a focus on enhanced contract profitability through unlocked margin opportunities.

  • Drive the Operations budget/forecast process and delivery within deadlines. Coordinate the capex budget within agreed parameters, prioritising projects based on return on investment, risk and ensuring that investment is in line with strategy.

  • Ensure that expense budgets reflect the economic indicators and are aligned with the IFS strategy.

  • Maintain an up-to-date database of contract metrics and provide accurate cost information for contract price negotiations.

  • Analyse the comparative costs of current contracts and the achievement of contract profitability objectives and evaluate the pricing and costing of contracts against the initial tender pricing to identify and define the variances.

  • Conduct regular facilities service costing reviews and provide management information to the Operations Executive on:
    –  indicative man-day rates
    –  market positioning
    –  key costing risks
    –  margin improvement opportunities.

  • Establish, develop and maintain relationships with in-Company departments and staff in order to gather key information relating to a particular sector or a particular cost driver, which will be useful in the price formulation.

  • Provide calculations, detailed analysis and associated recommendations to enhance costing efficiencies in current contracts and new business.

  • Ensure that the capital spend is within budgeted guidelines.

  • Compile and deliver monthly reports on operational results vs.budget for the Operation.

Required Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • Commercial accounting principles and practices.

  • In-depth knowledge of IFS services, systems and cost structure.

  • Relevant BComm undergraduate degree, CA or CIMA qualification.

  • More than 8 years’ experience, including commercial costing and some exposure to facilities management and FMCG environments.
